Installing and setting up B.A.S.I.S.

Use the checklist below to make sure that you perform
each task necessary to install B.A.S.I.S. If you plan to install
B.A.S.I.S. on two or more networked PCs, see “System
Setup Checklist” in the
B.A.S.I.S. Installation & Setup User
Guide
. If you plan to use a mobile badging station, see
“Configuring a Distributed ID/Mobile Badging System” in

Determine whether your database will use Microsoft
SQL Server™, Oracle®, or the MSDE (Microsoft
Database Engine).

Configure the PC for TCP/IP.
See “Configuring Computers for TCP/IP” in the
B.A.S.I.S. Installation & Setup User Guide

If you determined in Task 1 that your database will use
the Microsoft
Database Engine, skip to Task 4 below.
Install the Microsoft SQL Server software, or the
Oracle7 or Oracle8 Server software.
See the user documentation provided with the server
software. Also, see “Installing Microsoft SQL Server” or
“Installing & Configuring Oracle” in the
B.A.S.I.S.

Attach the hardware key to the PC.

Install the B.A.S.I.S. software.

Select the Server Installation choice.

Choose the Access Control application.

Based on the determination that you made in
Task 1, choose the appropriate database option.

Run Database Setup.

Start the Communication Server.
